Please be informed that Playgroup will suspend its operations commencing Monday the 23rd of March 2020.

Whilst we stay closed until further notice, we will endeavour to keep in touch via email and social media.
We will provide and update as it relates to memberships and weekend bookings in a timely manner.
Hopefully the steps in place will help. Look after yourselves everyone, we wish you good health.

Our Playgroup

With over 400 families, Elwood Community Playgroup is the largest playgroup in Australia. We are a not-for-profit organisation, run by a committee of volunteers.

We are very lucky, that Port Phillip council has given us a building at 51 Broadway, Elwood to use purely for playgroup.

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm. Each playgroup session has a 2 hour slot and meets weekly at a set time.

Elwood Community Playgroup is open to all local residents in Elwood. So if you are a new parent, or have just moved into the area and have a child/children under 6 years of age, you are more than welcome to join.

For Children

Elwood playgroup is all about play.  We offer a safe and fun environment for babies, toddlers and preschoolers (0-5 years) to play, explore, develop and make new friends.  We group children of similar ages to help them expand their communication, social and motor skills during this important stage of rapid development.

For Parents & Carers

Adults must attend (we are not a child care center). This is a great thing. It gives you the opportunity to form friendships with other local parents. You will soon find other parents going through similar experiences as you. And can chat about the challenges and joys of raising children, knowing that you are not alone.

We are a volunteer run not-for-profit organization. All our members are encouraged to volunteer to help out with our events, contribute to small projects or become committee members.

Playgroup Victoria

When you join Elwood Community Playgroup, your fee also covers your membership to Playgroup Victoria. Playgroup Victoria covers your insurance at playgroup. It also has many ideas and resources for playgroup activities for young children. See their website for more information.
